Over the years, the art of sandwich making has improved so much that countless different types of sandwiches are now made, but traditionally sandwiches were eaten when eating normal foods was not feasible, such as when working or traveling.

They are just two square concave cast iron pieces that can be clamped together and then held over charcoal or open fire using long pliers as handles. The fire not only toasted the bread, but it also melted the cheese that was part of the filling, which made everything taste so much better. This type of sandwich was carried out with people in Australia and South Africa until the middle of the 20th century because it was one of the most convenient ways to eat hot food outdoors when camping.

It was nothing more than the same concave apparatus of traditional toasters that were heated outside with electric heaters. Everything was covered in heat resistant material so that the heat did not come out from the outside.

This design was so popular that it sold 400,000 units in its first year of release, which is why even now Breville is used by the same name for sandwich toasters in different parts of the world. Since then, almost every manufacturer has copied the same design, making it the most common and widespread design among sandwich toasters today.
