Bohemian décor creates a synergistic space that celebrates an eclectic global style. Embracing color, global cultures, and creating vibrant, lively decor brings my home to life, just like the Banjara nomadic gypsies. The unexpected combination of the turquoise blue sideboard with the nomadic Damchia, an Indian spice chest with a magnificent Kutch mirror tapestry hanging on the wall used as a background for a headboard, the visual effect is simply stunning. The color combination of blue, green and red is not common as they are all strong palettes, but mix them with a wild variety of leafy plants and you have a bohemian rhapsody of color and pattern.

The aesthetic is full of warm tribal ethnic decoration, eclectic but in love with nature. Sand tones can be seen in the carved cabinets that are handcrafted from antique woods and have subtle gray-green patinas. The old blue door with its aged patina reminds me of ancient tribes and nomadic gypsies. The Jaipur gate is the focal point in the living room with vines growing around it. The warmth of the aged wood and the ornate hand-carved detail is wonderful. The history that each piece contains is impregnated in the forest and the energy that emanates from these antiques brings life to another dimension.

Ganesha rules the root chakra from where everything begins and is our connection to Mother Earth. The wall carving of Rama with Hanuman tells the story of Ramayan when Rama had to string Shiva’s holy bow to win the hand of Sita. The colorful bow is irreplaceable, painted in bright blues, oranges and yellows, bringing it to vibrant life. The Banjara tribes are famous for their embroidered art and fabrics that have mirrors sewn into the threads. The arch is inspired by these beautiful masterpieces of artistic creation and is the entrance to my kitchen.

A weathered carved door dining table paired with white chairs lends a refined casual feel to the room and I enjoy the sea breeze through the open windows at night. Subtle and understated rustic elegance mixed with Banjara gypsy style, an eclectic collage of cultures and globalism. .
