With all the education, the history, and the plethora of artifacts like the Hope Diamond, it will be a place you’ll want to return to again and again. The first time you go to the National Mall area it’s pretty overwhelming when you see all the museums and galleries it’s hard to believe most of them are free.

Congress didn’t know what to do with the more than half a million dollars at the time, but over the years they finally decided to build a natural history museum. Nobody knew that the site would grow to the size and popularity that it has.

It contains what anyone interested in space travel would want to see, and they have some of the actual rockets that were used for the Space Shuttle and Apollo missions. This museum is an all-day affair, so plan to be at the Air and Space Museum for a full day. They also have an IMAX theater that charges a fee to see some mind-expanding movies. There are also plenty of free videos that you can sit and watch on the premises all day. The Wright Brothers Wing might be the most extensive information you’ll get on the famous early brothers of flight.

So expect to see some lines and lots of visitors who will enjoy all the sites as much as you do.
