If you travel a lot, you may want to check out the Transportation Security Administration’s PreCheck trusted traveler security check option. PreCheck members are eligible for expedited security checks at participating airports. More than 336,000 passengers have already passed through the PreCheck lane. Earlier this year, the Department of Transportation (DOT) approved new rules that require commercial airlines to be more transparent in the way they advertise their ticket prices. In the past, airlines advertised only the base price of the ticket. Now, airlines must disclose to ticket buyers the total price of the ticket, including the round-trip fare, plus mandatory federal taxes, airport, and any other fees a passenger is required to pay. Please note that when you purchase a ticket online, the advertised price now includes government and airport taxes and additional fees. Note that now, because previously hidden fees are included in the advertised price of a ticket, what we consider to be a good price for a ticket will be more than in the past.
