These attitudes and behavior patterns do not arise by chance. The amateur or apprentice graphic artist has to cultivate these traits while undertaking his projects with patience and the greatest care. Some of these competencies, attitudes and behaviors are discussed below.

Ability to Observe: The student must develop the ability to make serious and critical observation and examination of things in the environment in order to make an accurate or precise representation of the object or shape. It includes critical observation of linear patterns, variations in shape, texture, gradation, or color tones of natural and man-made objects found in the environment.

Ability to use memory and imagination to derive and develop ideas: this is the student’s ability to use their own imagination to create things without having to copy existing elements. You must cultivate the attitude of generating new and relevant ideas that can be used to create useful graphic products.

Designs are two-dimensional in shape or flat. These paper designs are often generated in three-dimensional shapes. The student must be able to meticulously follow the steps of the design and technology process to produce functional items. You must have the domain to be able to translate paper designs into standalone elements.

This implies the correct handling of the tools to execute the work. The student has to understand the nature and feel of the tools and materials so that she can use them properly to give the right effect in the artwork.

Application of Knowledge and Understanding to Constant Practice for Proficiency and Perfection: The student should ultimately aspire to achieve perfection in the various techniques of artistic production. He should be able to consistently apply the knowledge he has acquired through constant practice to produce articles with great proficiency or skill.

Creativity, Originality in Thought, and Final Products: The young graphic artist should make it his hallmark to produce items that are original in design, shape, color, etc. His ability to create new things should be evident in his way of thinking, as well as in the final products he makes.

The student must have the ability to respond quickly to works of art with which he comes into contact. He must be able to apply his senses well in speaking intelligently about the aesthetic qualities of the work. He must be able to evaluate, appreciate and criticize a work of art using the knowledge and skills that he has accumulated.

Ability to think critically and solve problems, healthy competition, good human relations, etc. – The student must also be able to think in concrete terms and be always ready to contribute ideas that can solve relevant problems faced by individuals in society. He must be able to participate in competitions and exhibitions of Graphic Arts that are held in the school, society or country. He must participate with clean and clear motives to improve his skills while learning and being inspired by the works of other graphic artists.

Demonstration of humane and moral behavior in thinking, feeling, and acting, eg, honesty, commitment, self-discipline/respect, diligence, patience, tolerance, teamwork, etc. – There are some moral or behavioral traits that the student should strive to cultivate. These include honesty, respect, diligence, patience, tolerance, and teamwork. People would like to do business with an honest and respectful person. The student has to be patient and tolerant to be able to absorb the pressures of the clients that can sometimes be irritating or annoying. As a learner, he too must be ready to work with other people to achieve the same goal. This quality would allow you to work in a larger work environment, such as in an industry or factory. In today’s work environment, teamwork is truly essential to the success of any company.

You must try very hard to work independently with or without a tutor around. This would help you develop your skills at a relatively faster rate.

You must explore new methods and techniques to achieve already existing production methods and techniques. It should be your attitude to try to use the tools and materials readily available in the environment to produce meaningful and useful artifacts. In addition, he must periodically self-evaluate by comparing his previous and current works in order to know the errors in them and improve them.

Cultivating these communication skills would enable you to communicate effectively with customers. People will certainly like to do business with people who speak politely than with those whose way of communicating goes through like a sword.
